Meet the Team at Gamma

Gamma is inventing a new medium to replace slide decks

Our decks combine the best parts of slides and docs: you can write and share them asynchronously, but also present them live to guide a richer, more inclusive conversation.

We're super proud of the team we've assembled so far and excited to bring on more! We've got a crew full of energy that enjoys everything from tennis to sewing to dogs to baseball to woodworking to cricket and more.

Julie Barwick

Engineer

Originally from Southern California. Pianist, composer, and general music nerd. ๐ŸŽน Loves everyone's pets. ๐Ÿฑ ๐Ÿถ ๐ŸฆŽ

Why I work at Gamma

I've always been obsessed with tools that help you organize your thoughts. Having tried many different presentation tools, I love that Gamma gets out of the way and makes it easy to communicate something effective with minimal effort.

As a former piano teacher, I also really appreciate Gamma's culture of emphasizing learning, teaching, and sharing. I love being part of such a really talented team and getting to build something that I'm excited about!

Nik Payne

Designer

Short Bio

I grew up in the Santa Cruz Mountains. I lived in Chicago for the past 6 years, before moving back to SF this year.

I'm into camping, backpacking, the outdoors, metal shows, coding, visual arts, and weird stuff like collecting pocket knives and reading about UFO's.

Why I work at Gamma

I believe in the mission, and the problem we're trying to solve. Making presentations is too painful with slides.

I've also always wanted to go small. I think I have a mindset and a skillset that lends itself to startup life.

Being super impressed by the skills and credentials of the team you're joining is always a great sign too!

Designer

๐ŸŒ Bay Area transplant who was raised in ๐Ÿ Honolulu. Serial hobbyist, T-Pain enthusiast, and reformed plant killer who can pour mean latte art โ˜•๏ธ๐ŸŽจ

Why I work at Gamma

As a historian, barista, and now designer I've often thought: There has to be a better way to communicate this.

I love that we're working on a medium that offers people a way to communicate their thoughts, ideas, and intentions in a format that's more aligned with how humans think rather than how computers function โ€” and have a lot of fun while doing it!

Check out my Gammas!

Recent Hawaii ๐ŸŒด resident, Japanese curry enthusiast and aspiring Pickleball professional.

Why I work at Gamma

Getting to work with a group of close friends in a startup has been a dream of mine since doing it in college. I also fundamentally believe that the idea of a slideshow presentation is due for a modern revamp.

I am excited to continue to pursue my craft as a Software Engineer, with a team of great people and a product I truly believe in.

Travis Beck

Engineer

I'm a parent/nerd doing parent/nerd things in and around San Francisco. Former Seattle, New York, and Boston resident.

Why I work at Gamma
How often do you get to explore a space as fundamental and high-touch as documents and presentations? Once I realized that docs and slides are really the same basic format with different page-break semantics I couldn't un-see it. We're building something new that has the potential to profoundly change the way people work. Our team is incredibly talented, well-balanced and super fun to work with and the product we are working on feels like something that the world really needs.

Ali Rizvi

Engineer

Originally from Lucknow, India ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณIn the Bay Area since 2013. Mayor of my local coffee shop โ˜• (that is what Foursquare tells me).

Why I work at Gamma
I am excited to be at Gamma because I believe we are defining a medium that will allow people to express their ideas effectively with high impact. Also, the team is super nice and fun to work with.

I am stoked about being on the ground floor as we lay the foundation of something that will hopefully (๐Ÿคž) change the way people express themselves.

Jessica Chong

Engineer

I grew up in ๐Ÿ‡ญ๐Ÿ‡ฐ Hong Kong & ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆToronto. Identical twin, dog mom, sewing addict, and 138 wpm typist.

I once spent 3 weeks in hotel quarantine and didn't want to leave.

I started making websites in the late 90s and had no idea you could do this for your job!

Why I work at Gamma
I love working at Gamma because I want to empower others to advocate for their ideas. I have a terrible fear of public speaking, but have seen how giving presentations has moved the needle on my career in a tangible way: by giving me credibility and influence, by making my work visible, and by giving me the opportunity to move people. I want others to experience the life changing magic of presentations!

Zach Leach

Designer

Former US Marine, originally from Baltimore MD.

I fell in love with the City by the Bay 15 years ago and have been here ever since.

Why I work at Gamma
I believe thereโ€™s a tremendous potential to improve the way we communicate ideas with Gamma. We have the opportunity to create a medium thatโ€™s expressive, natural and accessible to all, and Iโ€™m so excited to be a part of it, especially with such an amazing and talented team.

Jon Noronha

Founder

Bay Area native itching for the world to open up again โœˆ๏ธ๐Ÿป๐ŸŒฎ

Why I work at Gamma

I'm a recovering product manager who missed getting hands-on and actually building things. I love that we have a culture of constant prototyping and tinkering where everyone can contribute. Our product is a big canvas for our users to share their own big ideas, and building that canvas is such a fun challenge. Also, I โค๏ธ working in an office with so many of my favorite people!

James Fox

Founder

Warriors fan ๐Ÿ€ Tech Nerd ๐Ÿ’ป Can't wait to travel again โœˆ๏ธ ๐ŸŒ

Why I work at Gamma
I love the team that we've gotten together so far because I think we all complement each other quite well, almost like a team of superheroes that all have unique skills, backgrounds, and perspectives. (I also love the Avengers movies ๐Ÿ˜„)

I'm also super excited about the opportunity to build a new medium in a space that almost everyone is forced to work in but nobody really enjoys.

Grant Lee

Founder

Born in NYC, raised in the Bay. Dad of two furry kids and a cute dog.

Why I work at Gamma

I've lived in slide decks for most of my career, starting off in the world of investment banking and consulting before transitioning to finance and operations. I'm excited about the opportunity to reimagine this medium from the ground up, and offer users new, powerful ways to share and present their ideas with the world.

Plus I get to work with some of the most incredible people I've ever met. Fun team with big dreams ๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿš€
