Who am I?
My name is Jenna and I'm a digital strategist, helping ADHD entrepreneurs organize their digital life to create better content and achieve their goals.

@jennaredfield on Instagram, YouTube, X, TikTok, Threads, bluesky, Pinterest, YouTube, etc….
Why are we talking about this
I've been making content consistently since 2007, including 2 youtube channels (one with 10k subscribers), multiple instagram accounts (one with 21k followers) and a tiktok (with 19k followers and over 15 million views-just this year!)
I've seen firsthand how much video content can bring business, collabs, influence, speaking opportunities and so much more. But you need to start!
“There’s more competition than ever before, but also more potential!”
“Social media is often the first place people, especially Millennials and Gen Z, go to research businesses and brands.”
“Understanding how social media works is key to creating content with a life of its own.”
Don't mind me…..
I kind of have an obsession with ACRONYMS. They just help organize my thoughts in a clear way that helps people remember as well. I may have a few of them scattered. So just warning ya!
1. Content Planning: Organize and Calendar
Planning & Batching Content
The Power of Planning Planning your content is about creating space for strategy, creativity, and flexibility:
• Be Prepared: Have a clear roadmap so you’re not winging it.
• Stay Nimble: Leave room to react to trends, news, or events.
• Balance Evergreen & Current: Mix timeless content with fresh, relevant posts.
Benefits of Planning & Batching
1. Consistency: Regular posting means more eyeballs on your content.
2. Better Quality: Time to refine your copy and visuals—no last-minute scrambling!
3. Reduced Stress: Say goodbye to panic-posting (hello, mental health!).
4. Strategic Growth: Link content to a larger plan, like a product launch.
5. Time-Saving: Batching lets you get more done in less time. Adaptability Is Key
Make noise, listen for signal.
While planning ahead is crucial, planning too far in advance can backfire if you’re not analyzing what’s working.
As Jack Butcher says:
“Make noise, listen for signal.”
• When a piece of content works, pay attention to what resonated.
• Use that feedback to adapt your strategy and focus on what your audience loves.
Evergreen vs Trending
Evergreen Content
  1. Longevity: Evergreen content stays relevant for months or even years, consistently driving traffic and engagement over time.
  1. SEO Optimization: It’s easier to optimize for search engines, helping your content rank higher and bringing in organic traffic.
  1. Scalable Impact: Once created, it requires minimal maintenance, making it a time-efficient investment for long-term results.
  1. Authority Building: Establishes you as a knowledgeable and reliable resource in your niche, enhancing your credibility.
  1. Repurposing Potential: Can be easily repackaged into different formats (e.g., blog to video, video to infographic) to maximize its reach.
Trending Content
1. Boosts Immediate Engagement: Taps into current conversations and trends, making it highly shareable and attention-grabbing.
2. Viral Potential: Trendy posts are more likely to go viral, giving your account a quick visibility boost.
3. Fosters Relevance: Keeps your brand in tune with what’s popular, showing that you’re active and aware of industry or cultural shifts.
4. Encourages Experimentation: Allows for creative exploration and testing new formats, helping you understand what resonates with your audience.
5. Short-Term Traffic Spikes: Can generate a surge in traffic and engagement quickly, ideal for campaigns or product launches.
Using AI to help with content planning
AI. It's the biggest shift in marketing in the last decade.
Here's a few ways that I use it
1. Generating shortform video ideas tailored to TikTok or Instagram Reels.
2. Writing catchy email subject lines with high open-rate potential.
3. Turning video transcripts into concise captions and YouTube descriptions.
4. Suggesting hashtag clusters for specific industries or topics.
5. Crafting SEO-friendly video titles for YouTube or social platforms.
6. Extracting timestamps from transcripts for YouTube chapter markers.
Some of my favorite ideas is to use it as a content idea generator.
Simply explain to chatgpt or the like
Creativity and originality is important but if you are completly stuck it's a great tool to get ideas flowing!
How Ai has changed social media
Social media platforms are leveraging AI to revolutionize how content reaches audiences. Instead of relying solely on follower counts, platforms now prioritize targeting highly segmented audiences based on user behaviors, interests, and engagement patterns. Here’s how AI is shaping the landscape:
  1. Behavioral Analysis
AI algorithms track and analyze user interactions—likes, shares, clicks, comments, and viewing habits. This data helps platforms understand what content resonates with each individual, creating more personalized feeds.
2. Interest-Based Recommendations
Platforms use AI to match content with users’ interests, even if they don’t follow a specific creator. For example, TikTok’s “For You” page curates videos based on engagement signals rather than account popularity.
3. Audience Segmentation
AI categorizes users into micro-segments based on demographics, preferences, and behavior. Advertisers can then target these precise groups, ensuring ads reach those most likely to engage or convert.
4. Content Discovery
Algorithms prioritize discoverability of content users might enjoy over posts from followed accounts. For instance, Instagram’s Explore page or Twitter’s recommended tweets are designed to surface relevant content regardless of your follow list.
5. Dynamic and Adaptive Targeting
AI continually adjusts and refines targeting in real-time based on fresh data. For marketers, this means that audience segments evolve dynamically, ensuring campaigns stay relevant and effective.
How people find content
Search
Why this is important? Keyword research helps you find which keywords are best to target and provides valuable insight into the queries that your target audience is actually searching on Google or other platforms. The insight that you can get into these actual search terms can help inform content strategy as well as your larger marketing strategy.
Knowing what's trending, interesting, what people are searching for helps you create the content for you
FYP (For You Page/Suggested)
Algorithm-driven feeds like the For You Page (FYP) and recommendations surface videos based on user behavior, preferences, and trends. By creating engaging, high-retention content and leveraging trending elements, your videos are more likely to appear in these curated feeds, capturing both targeted and casual viewers. These systems work to amplify reach and virality through passive discovery.
Following/Subscriptions
(also includes Hashtags/Playlists)
Content from creators users actively follow or subscribe to can be further discovered through hashtags or curated playlists. By combining these strategies, you ensure your videos reach both loyal followers and new audiences searching for specific topics or themes. This approach builds community while increasing discoverability through intentional organization and tagging. Notifications also help this
Trending/Popular Sections
Trending content gains visibility by riding the wave of popularity, and when paired with shares, it can spread even faster through direct social interactions. This combination leverages virality from both platform algorithms and user-driven sharing, amplifying reach and engagement across networks.
Shares (Social & Direct)
Shares allow your videos to reach new audiences through direct recommendations, as viewers spread your content across social media, messaging apps, or personal networks, amplifying its visibility and credibility.
External Platforms (Cross-Promotion)
External platforms like blogs, websites, or other social media channels can drive traffic to your videos, while shares create a ripple effect that extends their reach. By promoting your content outside its native platform and encouraging sharing, you tap into new audiences and enhance discoverability across multiple touchpoints.
Step 1: The 6 types of videos you can make
Build: Community Focus
Relate: Engagement (comments)
Inform: Teach your audience (expert)
Grow: Promote a product/service
Humor: Entertaining/fun (grow followers/share)
Transform: Inspire and move audience to take action
Step 2: The SPARK-what makes a video "good"
Story-Do people remember it after seeing it?
Personal-Relatable. Do people identify with it? Is there a familiar person on screen that they have good will towards?
Actionable-Do people feel like they can do something from the video itself (next step). Is it shareable for others?
Repeatable-Is this a bingeable series or familiar format that people can scroll through and binge?
Kickstart-Is this an engaging video with a good hook? Is is something interesting that will "stop their scroll?"
Going "Viral"
Sometimes a post goes viral, but it’s worth asking yourself—did it actually help your business or create long-term value? Viral content can be exciting in the moment, but the real question is whether it aligns with your goals.
This year, I went viral a few times on TikTok, which had a short-term monetary benefit because I was part of the TikTok rewards program and earned money from the views. However, I noticed a pattern: only certain types of content went viral. When I talked about pop culture or current events, those videos took off. But when I tried to discuss my business or share value-driven content, the response was much quieter.
On the other hand, my YouTube videos, while not ‘viral,’ consistently bring me steady views and subscribers. These viewers are genuinely interested in the topics I share and often convert into paying customers for my templates and courses. This experience has taught me that while chasing virality can be tempting, building a sustainable content strategy that nurtures your audience over time is far more rewarding.
Viral moments can give you a temporary boost, but content that speaks directly to your target audience drives real business growth.
Creating an editorial Calendar
The L.E.A.D.S. Content Management System is a Notion-based editorial calendar designed to streamline content planning and execution for creators and marketers.
With a focus on organization and efficiency, it helps you manage everything from lead generation and audience engagement to content distribution and brand positioning.
The system includes tools for setting campaign goals, tracking outreach efforts, organizing content pillars, and maintaining brand consistency, all in a single, easy-to-navigate platform.
It's where I plan my longform content like YouTube videos and email marketing.
Listing a way
It's $15 (link is in the toolkit)
2. Record with Confidence: Film with Your Phone
1
Phone Filming
How to film using your phone
2
Tripods & Stabilization
Develop a natural on-camera presence and engage your audience through compelling narratives.
3
Lighting & Sound
Streamline your filming process and eliminate the need for expensive equipment.
Filming on your Phone
In 2024, vertical videos are where it's at. Yes you can still film horizontal but I would ONLY do this if you are doing longform content. You don't want to be making short videos horizontally.
Explore the settings on your phone camera for a higher quality video.
Experiment with different resolution settings, frame rates, and aspect ratios to find the best fit for your content.
Adjust the white balance to ensure accurate colors and the focus to achieve a sharp image.
Tripods & Stabilization
One of my favorite tools I've purchased in the last year has been the dji Mobile SE (on sale now for just $69 at Best Buy-usually $99)
It stabilizes your videos while you are walking. It can track you and can be used a small tripod. You can film vertically or horizontally.
Lighting & Sound
Microphones
You can buy cheap microphones but I've found they are not good. If you really want to invest, I recommend the Rode Wireless mics (about $150) for high quality sound. Otherwise just using your iPhone itself is fine.
Lighting
Good lighting is important (always have the window in front of you, not behind you).

Ring Lights: If you are filming at home, find a ring light to brighten your face

Repurposing & How I film
I personally film most of my evergreen content within instagram stories to make it exactly 60 seconds. My tiktok content I film inside of TikTok
Step 1: Filming
Platform: I often film directly in Instagram Stories.
• It provides great filters I don’t need to edit.
• The 1-minute max is ideal for short-form content.
• Once filmed, I save the video from Stories for further editing.
Step 2: Editing
• I use CapCut to refine the video:
• Add text for context.
• Include music and subtitles.
• Remove background noise with AI tools, if needed.
• After editing, I export the video, making it ready for multiple platforms.
Publishing & Sharing
Step 3: Publishing
• I share the content across platforms:
• LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Stories, Reels, Pinterest, etc.
• Tools like Metricool help me schedule posts for efficiency.
• Alternatively, I manually upload to each platform.
Step 4: Descriptions & Hashtags
• I use ChatGPT to help me write engaging captions.
• Add a few relevant hashtags to boost visibility.
Step 5: Evergreen Meets Trending
• I aim for a mix of evergreen content and trending topics to stay relevant.
• For clients:
• We batch-create content in one day.
• I teach them how to write captions and effectively share their content.
Key Principle: Keep it simple, fast, and easy to maintain consistency!
Filming Techniques for Your Phone
Forward-Facing Camera
The front-facing camera is ideal for vlogs, talking-head videos, or personal storytelling. It's designed for shooting selfies and ensures you can see yourself while filming.
Back-Facing Camera
Use the back-facing camera for high-quality shots that are professional-looking. It's great for scenic, product, or detailed close-up shots.
Green Screen Mode
Replace backgrounds with creative or branded visuals. Use apps like CapCut or TikTok for easy green screen effects.
In-App Stories
Use in-app stories features, such as Instagram or TikTok stories, for quick, informal content. They often have built-in filters, text, and music for easy editing.
Additional Options for Filming on Your Phone
Time-Lapse Mode: Capture long processes in a fast-forwarded style.
Slow Motion Mode: Highlight dramatic or detailed actions.
POV Shots (Point of View): Mimic someone’s perspective for immersive content.
Tripod or Stabilizer for Static Shots: Perfect for interviews, tutorials, or steady videos.
Overhead Shots: Ideal for unboxing, flat lays, or top-down tutorials.
Screen Recording with Commentary: Great for tutorials or app walkthroughs.
360-Degree or Panorama Mode: Showcase wide spaces or immersive environments.
Close-Up Shots: Focus on details, textures, or small objects.
3. Edit Like a Pro: Master CapCut
M - Music & Audio: Add background music and use AI tools to clean up audio, removing background noise.
A - Adjustments: Cut out mistakes and tweak clips for smoother transitions.
S - Subtitles: Add captions for accessibility and engagement.
T - Text: Overlay text for context, explanations, or emphasis.
E - Effects: Include simple visual effects to make the video more dynamic.
R - Review: Play back the video to ensure smooth edits and flow.
4. Authentic Branding: Show Up Confidently
REPEAT Framework
Why Your Face Matters on Camera
• Key Stats:
• Videos with human faces get 38% more engagement.
• Audiences trust creators who show their faces 2.5x more than faceless content.
• Emotional connection is heightened by facial expressions and tone of voice.
Humans connect to people, not products or faceless brands.
•Seeing someone’s face builds:
Trust
Relatability
Memorability
Should you script your videos?
Scripting Pros:
• Clear messaging, less rambling.
• Avoid forgetting key points.
• Great for beginners.
On-the-Fly Pros:
• Natural delivery.
• More authentic and conversational tone.
I personally don't. I've done it both ways and found that you can always edit mistakes but speaking naturally always comes across better. I also feel like moving (walking) can be helpful for getting out of your head.
I do film my videos usually where I will film in short spurts, pause and then hit record again (tiktok). This is me basically editing while filming. It makes videos much faster to make and less editing work.
Practice Makes Progress
• Start small:
• Record yourself privately to review tone and expressions.
• Use apps with editing tools to practice (e.g., CapCut).
• Watch yourself back with kindness—every great speaker started somewhere!
• Action Step: Commit to filming 1-2 minutes daily for a week.
Confidence in Your Appearance
• Wear something that makes you feel amazing. Confidence shines on camera.
• Consider:
Color analysis: Wear shades that complement your skin tone for a natural glow.
• Comfortable yet polished clothing.
• Tip: Keep it simple—avoid patterns that distract from your face.
Consider batch recording
What is Batch Recording? Filming multiple videos in one session to save time and energy.
A few tips for success:
• Work with someone. Keeps you on track and they can help remind you of topics.
• Change outfits between takes to keep content fresh.
• Schedule recordings when your energy is highest (e.g., mornings or after exercise).
People Just Want to See You
• Authenticity > Perfection.
• Your audience isn’t looking for flawless—they’re looking for real.
• “Done is better than perfect”—focus on showing up, not nitpicking.
FINAL TIPS
• Smile—it’s contagious!
• Look directly at the camera lens to mimic eye contact.
• Speak as though you’re talking to one specific person.
• Remember: Your vibe attracts your tribe.

6. Engage Your Audience: Strategies for Success
R.O.I.S. (Results, Optimization, Insights, Strategy)
1. Results: Define your goals upfront (e.g., engagement, conversions).
2. Optimization: Focus on long-term strategies, not viral trends.
• Invest in high-value content that stays relevant.
3. Insights: Track key metrics like reach, clicks, and conversions.
• What to track:
• Engagement rate = (Likes + Comments + Shares) ÷ Total Impressions.
• Conversion rate = Total Conversions ÷ Total Clicks.
4. Strategy: Use clear calls to action (CTAs) to drive measurable results.
Connect Your Content Type to Your Goal
Educational → Use as a lead magnet to build your audience.
• Example CTA: “Save this post for future reference!”
InspirationalBuild trust and establish authority.
• Example CTA: “Tag a friend who needs this reminder!”
PromotionalDrive sales with clear, actionable CTAs.
• Example CTA: “DM for details,” “Click the link in bio to shop!”
Hashtags-do they even work anymore? (Spoiler no!)
The Reality of Hashtags in 2024
Hashtags were once a key tool for discoverability, but their effectiveness has declined as social media algorithms have evolved.
1. Algorithms Prioritize Content, Not Hashtags • Platforms like Instagram and TikTok now focus more on personalized recommendations (e.g., suggested content) rather than hashtag relevance.
2. Saturation and Overuse • Popular hashtags like #love or #fitness are overcrowded and make it harder for your content to stand out.
3. Where They Do Work
• Niche hashtags: Use industry-specific or hyper-local tags to reach a smaller, targeted audience.
• Branded hashtags: Create your own hashtag for campaigns or community-building (e.g., #TwinCitiesWellness).
4. Quality Over Quantity
• A few well-chosen hashtags are more effective than spamming 30 irrelevant ones. Focus instead on high-quality, engaging content that resonates with your audience.
Work Smarter not harder

🎥 One Video = Endless Opportunities
Want to stay consistent AND be the go-to in your niche? The secret is video repurposing.
Here’s how you can turn one video into content for multiple platforms:
🔁 Repurpose, Don’t Reinvent
• Post your full video on LinkedIn to build authority.
• Share a 60-second clip as a Reel or TikTok for quick engagement.
• Add subtitles and post it to Instagram Stories or YouTube Shorts.
