TikTok now distributes content based solely on interest levels in specific topics. Before creating content, you should:
Use TikTok's desktop search feature "Insights" and "Explore" tabs to see trending topics.
Look for evidence of recent engagement (videos from the past 3-4 days getting substantial views).
Pay attention to search suggestions that appear when you type keywords related to your niche.
Create content around what the search suggestions are saying about the topic of your app.
Look for viral videos in your niche or adjacent niche, find out WHY they went viral, and then "hijack" the content and make it your own.
Don't copy.
Just put your own spin on it.
Use Strategic Text Colors
Red text and black/white text perform significantly better.
Most viral TikTok videos use these color combinations.
Use red and green sparingly to emhpasize words.
Use black letters with white background or vice versa.

This approach also requires patience as videos may take weeks or months to gain significant views.
Include Multiple People in Videos
Content featuring multiple people performs better.
Solutions for solo creators: react to others' content, use split screens, or green screens.
Multiple people increase "variables" in the video, making it more engaging.
An easy way to do this is with green screen content.
Multiple people per frame and multiple people in each thumbnail.
The Watch Time Threshold Hack
Views are severely limited (200-300 view cap) unless viewers watch 15-20 seconds of your content.
Two approaches to achieve this:
Create longer videos with engaging intros to easily reach the threshold.
For shorter videos (5-15 seconds), you need 100-300% watch time, which requires either:
Create content that viewers need to watch multiple times.
Text that takes 15-20 seconds to read
Content compelling enough for multiple replays.
Avoid posting too short or too long—match the format that’s already going viral.
Completion Rate Must Be 60%+
This goes hand in hand with increasing watch time.
To go viral today, you need a 60%+ average watch completion rate.
How to do it:
Choose high-demand topics – If no one cares about the topic, they won’t finish the video.
Use retention hooks and transitions – Phrases like: “But I’ll show you the secret in just a second…” “This last tip is the most important…” Keep viewers watching longer.
End right after the payoff – This triggers rewatches, boosting completion.
A clean cut right after delivering value = better chance of 100%+ watch time from viewers.
3 Content Types Getting Algo Priority on TikTok
One-minute videos:
TikTok is becoming more YouTube-like and wants longer content that can be better monetized.
Green screen content:
This format is preferred because it typically centers around:
Trending articles or topics with wide interest Celebrities, brands, or widely appealing subjects

3. Carousel/Slideshow Content is Exploding Right Now
TikTok is pushing carousel posts with strong hooks.
These posts are getting 100K–600K+ views, with engagement continuing to snowball over time.

Why it works:
Viewers swipe through multiple images, increasing session time.
TikTok rewards this behavior with greater reach.
Posting Frequency Algo Guidelines
Limit posts to no more than 5 times a day.
Ideally post 3x per day.
Accounts that post high quality content on a consistent basis have higher views and engagement.
Spam posting gets your account botted, shadow banned, or in 300 view jail.
⏰ Best Posting Times
TikTok is geo-focused, so all times should be based on your local time zone.
Best Time Slots:
11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
3:30 PM – 5:00 PM
7:00 PM – 9:00 PM (most viral potential for small accounts)
Posting Strategy:
Post in each time slot for 5 cycles (15 posts total).
Analyze which time performs best for your niche, then double down on it.
Wait at least 1 hour between posts to avoid harming reach.
New Hashtag Strategy
Using irrelevant or tiny hashtags will kill your video’s reach.
TikTok uses them to determine who to show your content to.
Cycle through these 4 hashtag formulas:
12 hashtags
3–4 hashtags
1–2 hashtags
5–6 hashtags (most common viral combo)
After testing all 4 styles across multiple posts, stick with the one that gives you the highest reach.
Avoid the Wrong Hashtags
Using poor hashtags can cripple your video. Avoid these 3 types:
Banned hashtags → Shadowbans & “300-view jail”
Small hashtags → Signals low interest to the algorithm
Irrelevant hashtags → Confuses TikTok’s targeting and shows your video to the wrong audience
Use only relevant, high-volume, and niche-specific hashtags. Check what’s working using TikTok’s native tools or competitive research platforms.
The Initial Velocity Hack
TikTok now heavily prioritizes engagement within the first 15–20 minutes after posting.
To maximize visibility:
Aim for high watch time
Get early comments
Reply to comments quickly, or post the first comment yourself to spark conversation.
No comments = no push.
If no one engages early, TikTok assumes the content is irrelevant and won’t promote it.
Comment Section = Visibility Trigger
TikTok tracks what your audience is commenting to figure out who else to show your content to.
Tips:
Encourage keyword-specific comments.
Reply using those same keywords to reinforce the signal.
Use your comments section as another opportunity to boost your topic relevance.
View History = Visibility
TikTok now favors viewing history as a core ranking factor.
Your audience sees more of what they’ve previously watched. So your content needs to mirror what your ideal viewer is already engaging with.
