A Year of Purposeful AI Expansion
As the pace of technological innovation accelerates, franchising has become a fascinating proving ground for AI's transformative power. Over the past two years, I've watched this industry embrace AI tools with a sense of curiosity, eagerness and excitement. But would it stand up against the needs of a franchise brand? Was this just another technological fad? After preparing this year's report, its clear, A.I. is not only here to stay — if you're not already using it, you're behind.
Having spent several years in the franchise industry, I wondered if it would truly catch on. Franchising after all, has always been unique in it need to support not only the corporate business but the individual franchisees that are so vital to its success. Would A.I. survive the battleground that is franchising?
It was clear to me that 2024 was the year of adoption. AI had made its impact. The possibilities seemed limitless—if not a bit unclear at times. However, one thing that I felt was like was missing from all the A.I. discussions was — 'direction.' We've all been in meetings over the last 12-18 months that end with "OK, so what do I do with it?" To me, it felt a bit like having a sports car but not knowing where to drive it, or a garage full of new power tools but not having a project to work on. In 2024, we explored, experimented, tinkered, and tested (too) many A.I. solutions, hoping to find the ones that fit our system, gained adoption, or made our lives just a bit easier.
2025 will be different.
This new year will be one of purpose. We will move beyond exploration and experimentation to applying what we've learned with clarity and intention. It’s time to take deliberate steps toward success—for both our brands and our franchisees—by aligning the power of AI with the unique needs of franchising.
This year’s report highlights that, for franchise leaders, AI offers a unique opportunity to streamline operations, support franchisees more effectively, and connect with customers in smarter, more meaningful ways. More people are making business decisions, driving investments, and even generating revenue with AI. The potential is immense, but the key lies in using it with focus and purpose.
2025 will be "A Year of Purposeful AI Expansion."
The stories, data, and insights in this report showcase not only what’s working but also what’s next. As you read, I encourage you to think critically about how AI can elevate your brand. Whether it’s finding efficiencies, personalizing customer experiences, or reimagining franchisee support, the opportunities are vast—but action is critical. Let this report serve as both inspiration and a roadmap to help guide your franchise’s AI journey to the next level.

A Bit About Me
The name is Will Fraker. I've spent the last 10 years in Franchising, specifically in franchise marketing. I am currently the VP of Brand and Performance at The Good Feet Store but I've spent time with brands like FranNet, Sky Zone, Goldfish Swim School, Neighborly and more. I started my journey in franchising with an agency called Scorpion Internet Marketing. I love A.I. and it ability to help us do things we never thought possible - especially in excel! I do this report each year on my own time because I love the community we have in franchising. Thank you for for your continued support!
